This Medieval Castle not only produces wines (DOGC Chianti Colli Fiorentini, IGT), but also Grappa, Vinsanto, and Extra-vergin olive oil, and when visiting the old wine cellar, it is possible to see the museum of antique agricultural tools too.
Although a number of introduced varieties have contributed to some excellent new wines in the past 30 years, wine production in Volognano remains firmly based on autochthonous varieties of grape.
This is an excellent opportunity not to only see this beautiful area close to Florence but also to taste these traditional Tuscan wines in their own territory and to learn about local history and customs.
A historical castle that dates back to the 11th century, built in a dominating lookout position over the surrounding territories, surrounded by Medieval woodlands which are set at the margins of the castle.
